The Mechanical Design Engineering department is responsible for working with clients, our own Project Managers, and the production department to design and deliver practical engineering solutions for a variety of situations.
From producing simple component arrangements to completing stage engineering designs in 3D, the Design Engineering department is an essential part of Centre Stage’s structure and vital to its continuing success in the stage engineering industry.
With new and exciting projects on the horizon, Centre Stage Engineering are looking to recruit a Mechanical Design Engineer to expand its highly motivated design team. Reporting directly to the Technical Director, the role will be to produce high-quality, workable designs using the latest versions of Autodesk Inventor Professional, Autodesk Vault and AutoCAD Mechanical.
Responsibilities will involve:
- Production of 3D models, general arrangement drawings & detailed design drawings
- Analysis of client briefs
- Liaison and coordination with customers, suppliers, fabrication and installation teams
- Site surveying and marking-out
On-the-job training will be provided and an appetite to learn will be expected.
This role has the possibility of growing with the successful candidate.
The successful applicant must have:
- Good knowledge and experience using Inventor Professional (other 3D modelling packages will also be considered)
- Experience working within a design office environment
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Word and Excel)
Desirable skills:
- Experience using Autodesk Revit
- Working within a BIM environment
- Finite Element Analysis of mechanical components

Competitive salary, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Indicative range: £30,000–£40,000, depending on experience.
Working Hours – 8:30 am – 4:30 pm Mon-Fri
